What you will learn from this article:
The benefits of PREMIUM comprehensive health insurance for foreigners from AXA
How health insurance for foreigners works in the Schengen area
One Policy – Many Benefits
AXA’s PREMIUM comprehensive health insurance for foreigners complements its existing insurance products. This includes health insurance for urgent and necessary care, ideal for short-term stays in the Czech Republic. However, for longer stays, a comprehensive insurance policy is required. This new premium option provides even more extensive coverage.
What do you get with AXA’s PREMIUM Comprehensive Health Insurance?
- Total insurance coverage for medical expenses up to 1,000,000 EUR
- Emergency dental treatment covered up to 800 EUR
- 100 EUR annual contribution for medical supplies, dental hygiene, or optional vaccinations
- Telemedicine services – online consultations with doctors and e-prescription issuance
- Coverage for medical expenses related to pregnancy and childbirth
- Accident insurance
- Liability insurance
- Baggage insurance
For comparison, the standard version of AXA’s comprehensive health insurance has a total limit of 400,000 EUR per insured event. It does not include accident insurance, access to telemedicine, premium medical service contributions, or other benefits covered in the PREMIUM package.
“Comprehensive health insurance for foreigners is required for those who stay in the Czech Republic for 90 days or more. It is essential for long-term visas and residence permits. Clients cannot do without this type of insurance. It is great that they can now choose premium packages that provide even better protection for their most valuable asset – their health,” says Mariana Pitráková from FaBrika ads, which operates InfoCizinci.cz and the insurance comparison service YesPojisteni.cz.
“In our Prague office (Máj shopping center), we have seen a growing demand for high-end insurance products in recent weeks,” she adds.
Traveling from the Czech Republic? Better with Travel Insurance
Health insurance for foreigners staying in the Czech Republic is valid not only in the country but also throughout the Schengen area. However, be careful – if you travel, for example, to a neighboring country, your insurance will only cover emergency and necessary medical care, which comes with lower limits.
In such cases, AXA covers:
- Medical expenses – up to 60,000 EUR
- Emergency dental treatment – up to 200 EUR
“This is why we strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance when traveling outside the Czech Republic. It can be a one-time policy for a specific trip or an annual policy for unlimited trips. This is the best way to travel worry-free, avoiding unexpected expenses due to illness or accidents,” concludes Mariana Pitráková.
