In case you wish to obtain permanent residence in the Czech Republic, you are obliged to pass a Czech language exam for foreigners. Successfully passing the Czech language examination for foreigners is a necessary condition to obtaining permanent residence as of 1st January 2009 building on law no. 326/1999 on foreigners in the Czech Republic.
The examination can be either charged or free of charge. It can be free of charge only if foreigner presents a voucher issued by the ministry of interior. The voucher can be issued based on foreigner’s application for permanent residence.
