If you are a citizen of a third country and intend to stay in the Czech Republic for more than three months, you must obtain a long-stay visa. You need a long-term residence permit to stay longer than six months. When applying – as well as when extending your visa or stay – you must provide proof of accommodation. It is usually part of the documents submitted with the application for permanent residence. How do you provide it? You can find out in the article.
You need to arrange proof of accommodation before your arrival in the Czech Republic. It must be issued no more than 180 days prior to submitting the application or notice of change, and if you ask the person providing you with accommodation for it, they must give it to you by law.
What can serve as proof of accommodation?
CONFIRMATION OF ACCOMMODATION
It is a written confirmation signed by the owner or authorised user of the flat and where the signature is officially certified. If the person providing the accommodation is not the owner but, for example, a lessee, you need another document confirming the link between the owner and the accommodation provider. This may be, for example, a lease agreement between the owner and the lessee or a power of attorney.
Accommodation confirmation forms can be downloaded from the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
LEASE OR SUBLEASE AGREEMENT
No official verification of signatures is required for lease and sublease agreements. Of course, this applies provided you present the original agreement signed by you and the person providing the accommodation.
In the case of a sublease agreement with a lessee, you will provide the lease agreement between the lessee and the owner of the flat. In addition to the lease agreement, you may use a power of attorney granted by the owner to the lessee as proof.

PROOF OF OWNERSHIP OF A FLAT OR HOUSE
Ownership of a flat or a house can verified by an extract from the Land Registry or a purchase contract.
ACCOMMODATION CONTRACT
An accommodation contract is actually a temporary lease contract. It is used for accommodation in university dormitories or hostels. The contract includes the period of time for which the accommodation is arranged.
All the details about the proof of accommodation in the Czech Republic can be found on the website of the Ministry of the Interior. The Ministry also defines when and how the proof of accommodation can be submitted electronically.
And although it is probably obvious, we would like to remind you that the place where you will be living must have a number or a registration number and must serve as a building for dwelling, accommodation or recreation.
